Twitter Remembers Sandy Hook On One Year Anniversary

Sandy Hook Remembered Twitter

Twitter took a moment on Saturday to remember the Sandy Hook school shooting that took the lives of 20 first graders and six educators on December 14, 2012.

For the most part, the tweets were solemn reminders of the lives lost and wishes for the family. Ann Curry even tweeted to her followers to perform random acts of kindness in their communities with the hashtag #26Acts.

She had an overwhelming response, with users tweeting stories about buying diapers for babies in need, phone cards for deployed soldiers, and buying food for the homeless. Other users tweeted out photos of the victims, memorials to them, and even a sweet cartoon that almost made us cry.

Others simply had messages of love and prayers for the victims of Sandy Hook and their families.

Of course, being the internet, there were also political tweets about guns, laws, and other things. However, we felt it was better to focus on the tragedy rather than the politics that often surround it.
