Twitter released an update to its iOS and Android app today, and both feature a brand new design.
The home, mentions/activity, discover and find people columns have been removed, and replaced with Home, Discover and Activity.
Discover lets you, well, discover relevant tweets, people to follow and trending hashtags, and activity lets you see what people you follow are up to.
You can swipe back and forth between columns, and the compose tweet icon has been replaced with a small prompt at the bottom of every page.
Similar to Google+, Twitter has added a new notification icon above columns which is where you can see all mentions, retweets, new followers and more.
To the right of the notifications icon is a messages icon to access direct messages, and you can now send photos via direct message.
To send a photo via direct message, create a direct message or select a prior conversation, and then click the camera icon at the bottom.
Snap a new photo or select an existing one, and it will be added to the DM. You can also add a quick blurb, and once you’re finished, hit “Send.”
Find People and Search have been relatively untouched, and as before, clicking the dotted icon on the far right allows you to access Lists, Drafts, Accounts and Settings.
The update is rolling out now on iOS and Android, and while the Twitter for Android design featured in this post is different from iOS, both are very similar.
