Instagram Wants To ‘Share A Moment’ On December 12

Instagram is beginning to show promise for advertisers, and today the social network sent out a special invite to press announcing a December 12 event.

Taking place in New York City at 10 AM Eastern, the invite simply said “You are invited to a share a moment with Kevin Systrom and the Instagram team.”

Systrom is the CEO, and CNET has more details on the surprise invite:

“The package, wrapped with brown paper and a white ribbon, contained a wooden block, 4 inches long and wide and 1.75 inches thick, covered with a printed Instagram shot and a slot in the back so it can be hung on the wall.”

Last month, it was reported Instagram was preparing to launch private messaging, and according to GigaOM, would launch by the end of the year.

While this upcoming event could very well announce such new features, CNET thinks otherwise:

However, the format of the invite itself seems to suggest a different kind of announcement, such as a service that would allow users to print their photos.

There are already numerous services that allow you to print your Instagram photos, including the ability to eat them.

An Instagram spokesperson declined to share more details about the December 12 event, so it looks like we’ll just have to wait and see.
