Blur Cancels On Big Day Out, Festival Founder Reassures Fans

Blur Pulls Out Big Day Out

Blur pulled out of their headline slot at the Big Day Out Festival, and fans are understandably pissed. The group announced the cancellation on Facebook, saying:

“Devastated to report that Blur won’t be performing at BDO in 2014. It’s a shock that it has come to this. Only 8 weeks to go, the band feels that with the constantly shifting goalposts and challenging conditions of the organisers, they can’t let it drag on any longer and want to make this announcement, to be clear to Blur fans that they won’t be there. We’ve done our very best to work with the organisers and considered every option to make it happen, but they’ve let us down and let everyone else down too.”

The announcement came as a shock to Blur fans in Australia, and the festival’s founders, who took to Twitter to reassure fans that they are doing what they can to assure fans that a replacement for the headliner is coming soon, and Blur fans will be able to have their tickets refunded if they don’t like the fix.

Adam Zammit, the festival’s CEO, responded to fans and retweeted messages of support for BDO after the news came out:

AJ Maddah also took to Twitter to speak with fans about Blur’s move, writing:

Big Day Out has yet to announce Blur’s replacement, but assured fans they are working through the night to find one, or rework the set times. The festival begins touring in February.
