Don’t Follow Edward Snowden On Twitter (Because The Account Is Fake)

A Twitter account reportedly belonging to NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden is not the real deal, says bosom buddy Glenn Greenwald.

On Monday, @OfficialSnowden went live and racked up about 600 followers after publishing its first couple of tweets:

Though it looks pretty official, it’s actually a fake handle with unknown operators. Journalist Glenn Greenwald, who has worked in tandem with the real Edward Snowden for over a year, denied the account’s authenticity almost immediately.

Meanwhile, the real Snowden has reportedly secured employment while living under asylum in Russia. His lawyer said that he started a job Friday with a “major Russian website,” though further details were not disclosed for “security reasons.”

Edward Snowden will reportedly run maintenance for the website, according to CNN. Still no word on whether he’s interested in going out with Anna Chapman.
