Katie Holmes Joins Twitter, Racks Up 12,889 Fans In 5 Hours

Actress Katie Holmes has joined Twitter. The A-List star joined the micro-blogging website at 5:37am on Friday morning.

Just five hours after posting her first message Holmes had already racked up 12,889 fans.

Here is the actresses first tweet:

Katie Holmes is currently in Cape Town, South Africa where she is filming the book adaptation of the young-adult novel The Giver. Also part of that film are Taylor Swift, Jeff Bridges, Alexander Skarsgard, and Meryl Streep.

Holmes appears to be jumping right into the spirit of Twitter, also retweeting her first message from Bobbi Brown Cosmetics:
