YouTube Now Sees 40% Of Traffic From Mobile

YouTube is to video as Michael Jordan is to basketball, and according to a tweet posted today by former employee Hunter Walk, 40 percent of its traffic is now from mobile.

Google made the announcement during its Q3 earnings call this afternoon, also stating that YouTube mobile traffic is up 15 percent from 2012.

In 2011, mobile accounted for just six percent of total traffic.

Helping to fuel this growth are its official apps for Android and iOS, which have benefited from consistent updates, and beautiful redesigns.

Back in August, YouTube finally introduced multitasking, and offline viewing will start rolling in November.
