Instagram launched video back in June, and a new update for both Android and iOS introduces sound and data usage controls.
These new features are rolling out to both platforms starting today, and the update also includes various bug fixes and improvements.
Android users will also get the photo straightening feature which launched on iOS in early August.
At the time of writing this, the updates have yet to be pushed out, but Phandroid has a good explanation of the new sound and data usage controls:
Other improvements include “sound and data usage controls” when dealing with Instagram videos. It wasn’t exactly clear what that might entail (the update isn’t live on the Play Store quite yet) it seems users will finally be able to mute videos by default (similar to a Vine update) and playback videos in lower quality while using the cellular network.
