Pope Francis Tweets For Peace In Syria, Impresses Us With Twitter Skills

Pope Francis

Pope Francis is already way better at using Twitter than his beleaguered predecessor, Benedict XVI.

Okay, so that whole “purgatory credits” thing wasn’t actually a thing. He’s not getting any credit for revolutionizing the way religious folk use social media, but Pope Francis has at least shown that he “gets” it.

His tweets are often topical and take advantage of smart hashtagging practices.

To wit, lately his @Pontifex Twitter feed has followed the developing powder keg that is international relations regarding Syria, and Pope Francis has even been pushing to get a hashtag trending.

Nicely done, Pope Francis. You’ve managed to appropriately fill the role that religious figureheads ought to, and you’ve smartly adapted to social media (Twitter, at least) as a means of doling out encouragement and guidance in 140 characters or less.
