Celebrity chef Paula Deen has scored an unlikely/likely/I-don’t-know ally in actress Stacey Dash, who inspired bitter criticism in late 2012 for her public endorsement of then-presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
Twitter reacted to Dash’s defense of the comfort-food chef with almost the exact same measure of ire.
God does everything for a reason @Paula_Deen Only God can judge your heart BTW my daughter loves your show (only way she can get me to cook)

And now for the backlash:

Dash has garnered some support, however:

But it’s all pretty much racially-charged criticism:

Dash has become notorious lately for a number of meek political tweets. Her endorsement for Mitt Romney in 2012 resulted in vulgarity and death threats, and her criticism of Jay-Z and Beyonce’s Cuba trip inspired racial epithets and all manner of nastiness.
It’s up to you to decide, folks. But whether Stacey Dash’s defense of Paula Deen constitutes compassion or ignorance, it’d be nice to see more of the former from those responding.
