Actress Mischa Barton is not impressed with director Sofia Coppola’s new film The Bling Ring due to a careless reference to her DUI and problems with substance abuse.
Barton was ticked after learning that her arrest for driving under the influence was casually mentioned by one of the film’s characters.
The film, inspired by true events, focuses on a group of teens who stole more than $3 million in goods from Hollywood homes, including Paris Hilton’s.
One of the characters is merely heard telling a friend that “Mischa Barton got a DUI,” but the throwaway line seemed to strike a pretty raw nerve for the 27-year-old actress.

Barton’s 2007 DUI arrest resulted in 36 months probation and a stint in rehab. She admirably owned up to the offense, stating:
“I was pulled over… just that. Obviously, I’m 100 percent responsible for my actions in this case and I’m really disappointed in myself… I don’t know what to say about it, except that I’m not perfect and I just don’t ever intend to do something this stupid again.”
