Tumblr’s Original Designer Jacob Bijani Exits The Company

Wanna know how cool Yahoo is? The company spent $1.2 billion buying Tumblr and almost immediately following that announcement the tech firm lost Tumblr’s original designer.

Jacob Bijani announced this week in a blog post that he was fleeing leaving the company.

Bijani started working for Tumblr as a freelancer but later joined as a permanent employee.

After being hired as a full-time employee founder David Karp quipped that Bijani was “the first person we’ve hired who’s younger than me.”

While Bijani appears to be jumping ship before Yahoo can fully get its greasy corporate hands on the startup he still wished the team his best.

“I’m so proud of what we’ve all created together, and it’s been a privilege to contribute to something beloved by so many. I can’t wait to see what’s next for the product; I’m sure it will be nothing short of incredible,” he said.

So what’s next for Tumblr’s original designer? Bijani says he will take “some time off to digest the last few years.”

Are you surprised by Jacob Bijani’s departure from the Tumblr team?
