Twitter’s Legal Director Hired By Obama Administration As Nation’s First Chief Privacy Officer

Nicole Wong

Twitter legal director Nicole Wong has been battling internet litigation issues for years and now she’s working for the Obama Administration. Wang on Tuesday was chosen to be the country’s first Chief Privacy Officer.

Nicole Wang joined Twitter five moths ago to head up the social networks legal team. Twitter has long fought to protect its service from warrantless and other attacks from governmental agencies.

Before working at Twitter Wong spent time working at Google. Wong worked directly with YouTube and other user-generated content programs owned by the search giant.

Wong’s experience working with China and other foreign entities likely played a part in the White House’s decision to offer her the job.

First reported by Cnet, it is not clear who will replace Wong at Twitter.

The micro-blogging service has not commented on Nicole Wong’s departure at this time.
