Tony Gonzalez is returning to Atlanta.

The Atlanta Falcons tight end, who was expected to retire at the end of last season, has decided to take one last shot at the Super Bowl.

The Falcons recently cut veterans Michael Turner, John Abraham and Dunta Robinson but Gonzalez believes that the team still has a good shot at the Super Bowl this year.

Gonzalez, a 13-time Pro Bowler, is one of the greatest tight ends to play the game. He is the all-time leader in yards, (14,268 ), touchdowns (103) and receptions (1,242). Despite his regular season success, Gonzalez has only one playoff victory in his career. That apparently wet Gonzalez appetite for a Super Bowl.

Gonzalez said: “After discussing it with my family and really, truly struggling with this decision, I informed the Falcons that I would like to return for one more shot … Considering how this season ended, I wanted to give it another run with Matt (Ryan), Smitty (head coach Mike Smith) and the guys we have in there. It was the first time I had won a playoff game and hopefully coming back once more we can take it one step further.”
