Firefox 17 With Facebook Integration Firefox 17 Now Available With Built In Facebook Messaging

Mozilla Firefox 17 is now available for download and with it comes the ability to use Facebook Messenger from directly inside the browser.  The built-in Facebook Messenger service can be activated by visiting the Messenger for Firefox after downloading the installing the new browser update. The FB integration had been in beta testing since October 23.

The new option implements the Firefox Social API which aims to seamlessly integrate various social media services with the Firefox 17 browser.

Once installed a social sidebar is added to the users browser, that sidebar features the users Facebook friends for easy chat access from any Firefox browser tab. The sidebar also provides notifications for messages, friends requests and other content from Facebook.

Mozilla promises that further integration with Facebook will occur down the road. Both Mozilla and Facebook worked together to create the new Messenger for Firefox in-browser app.
